So generally, dentistry in this office, or our pediatric office, you know, probably the most important thing that we try to focus on on every visit with kids is prevention. We want to make sure that these kids are doing what they need to do to prevent problems from happening. So we always talk about diet, and hygiene, and, you know, things they can do to have healthy teeth and mouths. And then beyond that, once we exit prevention, then it's usually just, you know, a lot of fillings. We do a lot of fillings and crowns. One thing with pediatric dentists— with pediatric dentistry is we do a lot of sedation, if we need to, so we'll do sedations in the office. Sometimes we'll take kids to a hospital or a surgical center to get treatment done if we need to but we don't have a lot of fancy procedures. It's just really, you know, fillings and then, of course, we watch their growth and development and making sure that their teeth are nice and pretty and straight and when it's time for them to get referred to an orthodontist, we're there to do that at the appropriate time.
Dr. Erik Rooklidge and our other dentists treat all patients from a year old to 18 years old, including children with special needs. Our general dental services will:
- Help keep you children’s teeth clean and white
- Uncover cavities and other oral problems before they can damage smiles
- Give you peace of mind that you’re taking proactive steps for your kids’ dental care
- Help your kids keep an attractive smile and avoid social embarrassment
Schedule Dental Cleanings & Exams Twice a Year
Did you know there are grooves in the chewing surfaces of adult teeth that are so thin not even an individual toothbrush bristle can get inside to clean them? Those grooves are even smaller in your children’s teeth. That’s part of why it’s so important your kids visit us for regular dental cleanings and exams!
Not only will we clean your children’s teeth in ways that are impossible with brushing and flossing alone, but we will also conduct a thorough examination. This helps us catch problems while they’re still small and easily manageable. This will not only ensure more comfortable, less-invasive treatments for your kids, but it will also save you time and money in the long run!
Athletic Mouthguards Protect Kids’ Smiles
If your children like to stay active, we can create custom athletic mouthguards in about a week. They will protect your kids’ teeth against damage that can occur during sports, exercising, or other activities that put their smiles at risk.
Compared to store-bought options, our professional mouthguards work better, fit more comfortably, and hold up better. Getting a custom mouthguard now can help reduce the pain and expense involved with extensive dental damage.
Let Your Kids Enjoy Comfortable Care
To improve the comfort of your kids when they visit our office, we have invested in state-of-the-art dental technology. For example, our Solea CO2 laser allows us to simultaneously numb their teeth and remove decay!
If desired, we also offer dental sedation options for increased comfort. We’ll be happy to work with you one-on-one so you can decide what’s best for your kids.
